Welcome to a new board member

Kendal BiD is happy and honored to welcome Eloise Healy as its latest board member, representing the creative industries sector and also small retail in addition to Blackhall Yard. Eloise describes her world…

Eloise Healy, 47, mother of 2 children attending the local school & college. I spent my career up to 2015 in the nuclear industry as a Project Mgr. at Sellafield (Cumbria) and Rolls Royce Submarines (Derby), I moved to Kendal in 2015, taking a step away from the commercial sector, to explore a strong and creative desire to work for myself. After immersing myself in an abundance of design, marketing and personal training, I opened Retro Circus on Blackhall Yard, Kendal, it is a delight to be a shop owner in Kendal, however, opening the shop for me was only the beginning and raising my business profile and that of yard and Town I reside is now part of daily business.

It seems the Project Mgr. engrained within will never leave and having multiple activities in the air at any one times drives me immensely. I currently lead most of the activities for the Blackhall Yard with regards to marketing, advertising and PR (although self-appointed, I find it impossible not to get involved), these include; building the yard website, designing brochures and flyers to manufacturing the new yard signage. I mentor other businesses in the yard and work closely with the Landlords and agents to raise the profile of a sadly once lesser yard. Although a relative newbie to Kendal I find my fresh approach to get things moving works well with things are now starting to change – we are now starting to feel these benefits, though increased footfall, positive reviews and repeat custom.

What could I bring to the Kendal BID Board: Inspired by how involved Kendal BID are with local businesses and shop owners, it has been a desire of mine to apply to be a board member, to explore how and where I can offer my skills, knowledge and hardworking approach beyond my shop and yard to Destination Kendal. I have a strong creative vision and can most certainly get things moving in the most practical way, whilst maintaining a strong business head and holistic view.
